Machynlleth makes an ideal base to explore Mid Wales.
The town itself is steeped in history, being the ancient capital of Wales and the location of Owain Glyndŵr's Parliment building, which can be still visited today. Also in the town is Y Tabernacle (also known as Muesum of Modern Art, Wales).
Another popular local attraction is the Centre for Alternative Technology where there is a water-powered railway taking you up to a variety of exhibitions on organic living, wind, sun and waterpower.
Some of the main attractions of the Dyfi Valley are walking, mountain biking and horse riding. Brynllwydwyn has direct access on to the Glyndwr's Way (a National Trail) and the Mountain Bike trails Mach 1, 2 and 3 and the Climach X trail is located in the Dyfi forest. As an alternative to cycling, nearby is Madian Quads that offers quad biking on purpose built trails. The new across Wales National Bridleway Route, the Prince Llywelyn Ride is proving to be very popular for horse riders.
At Brynllwydwyn we offer stabling for people with their own horses. Pony trekking and riding centres are nearby also.
Sport facilites can be found at Machynlleth Leisure Centre, which includes a swimming pool, gym, climbing wall and squash courts. For those that prefer more leisurely sports, a round of golf can be taken at Machynlleth, Aberdyfi or Borth golf clubs.
With the close proximity to the sea, a trip to Ynyslas with its expanse of beach and sand dunes or to the pretty town of Aberdyfi is a must. Aberdyfi is a popular destination for watersports. For those that prefer to fish the Dyfi estuary is renowned for having a variety of fish, and is very highly regarded by fisherman everywhere.
